Pope Francis in Washington DC 2015

Does Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si on the climate have anything to do with a Sunday law? The testimony I heard from an acquaintance.

Awaiting the Pope’s Arrival to Washington DC

When Pope Francis visited the United States in 2015, a group of young people wanted to go and protest, as he came to the Congress in Washington DC. They went to the Congress and requested: “We are protesters and want an assigned space to protest.”

The one in charge assigned them a spot.

As the young people arrived to the place where Pope Francis would appear, they were met with rejection. “I’m sorry, the Vatican has asked that there will be no protesters.”.

“I know, but we have rights. We want to protest.”, the young man insisted. “Well, the Vatican has already reserved all the sites for protesters, so we have no spots available.”

While she was still speaking she suddenly interrupted herself: “Well, look here, they missed one…number seven“. “We want it!”, they responded.

“Here are they that keep the Commandments of God”

They got the protest site, right across from the main entrance. It was really one of the best spots. So they put up their sign, with a picture of a pure women standing on a moon with stars around her head. On the sign one could read:

“Here is the patience of the saints, here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12).

They were also handing out the Great Controversy books. The cardinals and priests were going in and out as the congress was preparing the Pope’s arrival. They looked over there and saw their table, and the poster and thought the picture of “Mary” looked strange. So they came over and talked to the group.

“We see you have a picture of Mary…”. “No sir”, one of them responded. “It is not of Mary, it is of the pure church. It has nothing to do with Mary. It is the pure woman, the church that keeps the commandments of God (all ten of them), and has the faith of Jesus.”

“And what are you handing out?…the Great Controversy…. Oh, you are those people.”

“Yes sir, we are those people”.

Setting up a Day of Worship

The main director of the group then said: “Let me ask you a question. I have been reading through the Encyclical that the Pope has given on the environment, asking us to protect the environment and so forth. As I read through it, it really looks to me that what you are really trying to do is to set up a family day to protect the environment, but it is really about a day of worship. To the best I can tell, it is about a Sunday law. What’s your opinion?”

The priests reply was: “That’s exactly what it is about.”, and he turned around and left.

The testimony is very interesting. Some may call it speculations, but it is really just confirming what has already been warned for many years ago. Consider the following quotes:

“Satan puts his interpretation upon events, and they think, as he would have them, that the calamities which fill the land are a result of Sunday-breaking. Thinking to appease the wrath of God, these influential men make laws enforcing Sunday observance. They think that by exalting this false rest day higher and still higher, compelling obedience to the Sunday law, the spurious sabbath, they are doing God service” (“Manuscript Releases, vol. 10”, p. 239)

“And then the great deceiver will persuade men that those who serve God are causing these evils. The class that have provoked the displeasure of Heaven will charge all their troubles upon those whose obedience to God’s commandments is a perpetual reproof to transgressors. It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday sabbath; that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced; and that those who present the claims of the fourth commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the people, preventing their restoration to divine favor and temporal prosperity.” (“The Great Controversy”, p. 590)

“Men in responsible positions will not only ignore and despise the Sabbath themselves, but from the sacred desk will urge upon the people the observance of the first day of the week, pleading tradition and custom in behalf of this man-made institution. They will point to calamities on land and sea—to the storms of wind, the floods, the earthquakes, the destruction by fire—as judgments indicating God’s displeasure because Sunday is not sacredly observed. These calamities will increase more and more, one disaster will follow close upon the heels of another; and those who make void the law of God will point to the few who are keeping the Sabbath of the fourth commandment as the ones who are bringing wrath upon the world. This falsehood is Satan’s device that he may ensnare the unwary.—The Southern Watchman, June 28, 1904.” (“Christian Service”, p. 155)

“Those who honor the Bible Sabbath will be denounced as enemies of law and order, as breaking down the moral restraints of society, causing anarchy and corruption, and calling down the judgments of God upon the earth. Their conscientious scruples will be pronounced obstinacy, stubbornness, and contempt of authority. They will be accused of disaffection toward the government. Ministers who deny the obligation of the divine law will present from the pulpit the duty of yielding obedience to the civil authorities as ordained of God. (“The Great Controversy”, p. 592)

Imagine when the world will not find any solution to “the calamities which fill the land”. That is when the Sunday Law finally will be enforced.

Now is the time to prepare.

Now is the time to surrender all to Jesus.

Now is the time to get to know Jesus, and His plan for your life.

Keep the faith.
